WhatsApp is getting or will get in the near future a number of interesting features related to, among other things, control of group chats or voice message recording. Now Meta, the company that manages the messenger, wants to provide WhatsApp users with something that will allow them to personalise avatars, which can then be used as stickers.
WhatsApp is set to receive the feature after it was warmly welcomed by Instagram and Messenger users, the information was provided by WABetaInfo, a service that regularly checks the app’s source code. This way, it is known in advance what new features will be coming to WhatsApp messenger.
According to information provided by the service, personalised avatars, which can then be used as stickers to paste into chats, will be made available to WhatsApp beta testers in the first instance. The first takers have already had a chance to test the new feature, but it is unclear when a wider range of users will be able to use it.
It is also unclear when Meta will officially announce personalised avatars on WhatsApp, but hopefully it will be sooner rather than later. The app itself has been getting quite a few updates recently – the limit of people who can take part in group chats has been changed, among other things, and there will also be a new camera mode for simpler video recording in the near future.
